Would you like to be able to read and study the Bible in a way that helped you understand it so you could apply its life changing insights? Hermeneutics is designed just for that. This course will give you a sound foundation as you are guided through the most important principles and procedures used in interpreting the intended meaning of biblical passages. Approach this study with zest and anticipation as you learn exciting facts of history, enlightening laws of grammar, and the relevant context of the passages. No longer will you be held hostage to wild and error-filled interpretations of God’s Word.
This is a seminary course that I have taught over the years that I consider to be of very high importance. Hermeneutics is the science and art of interpretation. It gives you the principles for proper interpretation of Scripture. A major part of the course involves the practical utilization of those principles in the actual study of Scripture. Every Christian should learn how to study Scripture for themselves. This course will guide you in that pursuit.
The lectures below were recorded during actual live classes for Chafer Theological Seminary in 2018.
Even though this course is available here, many of you should consider taking this and other courses from Chafer Seminary for either credit or audit. Also, you should consider supporting Chafer.
This course is broken into three parts. Sessions #1–4 pertain to Hermeneutics (principles). Sessions #4–11 deal with Bible Study Methods (putting the principles into practice). And the third part returns to the principles in Hermeneutics in Sessions #12–14.
Outlines (listed under notes) and slides (listed under slideshow) are also provided.
